Page3 Web Hosting
I have been using hostgator for the past four years and even though nearly everyone recommends them they do have problems. I have noticed that their billing systems is poor as is their online live help.
The Problem Of Choice
What I would suggest to
anyone is that you join a host on a trial basis and then make up some
problems and try to see if you can get help. You may find that they are
great online but dont have a telephone support system. This is what I
found with a company selling text links. Even though they still list a
number, they dont answer or have an answering machine and they never
ever return your calls!
Which hosting should you use
Some time in the future you are going to want your own web site, and it's important that you select a quality web host. Where you have your site hosted can make the difference between a successful website and a failure. It's that important and you should considere some of the things below that you need to look for in a web host :
1) Unlimited disk space - just in case your site hits off, you don't want to run
out of disk space when people are trying to access your site.
2) Unlimited bandwidth - This is important so that your host is able to deliver your content in the even that a lot of people are visiting your site at the same time.
3) Unlimited websites - You may start with one site, but at a later time you may find you want to launch others as well. And this option is important.
4) Free setup -Now that there is so much choice there's no reason you should be paying setup fees.
5) Look for 99.9% uptime guarantee - No one can guarantee 100% uptime, but some hosts can get very close.
6) Pre Installed software for systems, database, scripting, email and more - This will appear as CGI, Perl, MySQL, SSH, POP and other acronyms and if you don't understand that is ok, because you don't need to understand for your site to work as long as the support is there.
7) CPanel hosting - a pretty user friendly system, this is the defacto control panel making it easy to administer your site
8) 24/7 support - I have been with hosts who didn't answer their phones so call them first before you sign up and ask questions. It's scary if no one answers. Support is critical.
9) No contracts or hidden fees - dont get into long agreements, and everything should be made clear
10) A fair price - Most hosts start at $10 or so per month or less for starter sites, you can always upgrade with most hosts. That's not bad, but there is better.
I have used a number of web hosts in the past ten years and I've had some nightmarish experiences but I've had some great experiences.
This is something I am frequently asked who do I recommend for web hosting.
The host that I have found that meets all of the above requirements and beats the price on all others is HostGator.
The fact is, several of my servers are with them TODAY! You dont have to take my word for it but I guess that says it all.
Its up to you but don't sweat it as you look for the perfect web host. I'm happy with Host Gator's service and I think you will be as well.
Try the coupon code "LUCKY" and you may get a discount on services. I'm not sure if it still works but it's worth a try if not do a search on google for new coupons. If not, their prices are already low enough that it won't matter.
